INSTITUTE MIHAJLO PUPIN
Institute Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) is a leading research and development institute based in Belgrade, Serbia, and a member of the University of Belgrade. The Institute has extensive expertise in information and communication technologies, automation and control systems, artificial intelligence, digitalization, and the development of advanced technological solutions. IMP brings together researchers, engineers, and technical experts working on the development and practical application of innovative technologies across a wide range of sectors. A key strength of IMP is its ability to bridge the gap between scientific research and real-world applications. Its activities cover the entire innovation process, from research and development and the creation of new methods and software solutions to system integration, implementation, and validation. This combination of scientific knowledge, multidisciplinary expertise, and engineering experience enables IMP to contribute to complex national and international projects in which different technologies, data sources, and digital systems need to work together. Through its participation in research and innovation initiatives such as POSIFIT, IMP applies its expertise to address real-world challenges and contribute to the development of smarter, more energy-efficient, and sustainable solutions.

ROLE OF YOUR ORGANIZATION IN THE PROJECT:
Institute Mihajlo Pupin’s main role in POSIFIT is to help ensure that the project’s different digital technologies and services can work together as one integrated system. IMP leads the definition of the requirements and architecture of the POSIFIT digital platform, helping establish how information should flow between the different tools and services developed by project partners. Another key responsibility is ensuring interoperability across the POSIFIT platform. IMP leads the development of a common data approach so that building data, digital twins, energy models and other POSIFIT services can exchange and use information consistently.
WHY IS LEGOFIT IMPORTANT TO YOUR ORGANIZATION/PILOT SITE?
Institute Mihajlo Pupin (IMP) has extensive experience in the development and integration of advanced digital technologies, with strong expertise in ICT, automation and control, system integration, data management and intelligent systems. Its participation in POSIFIT is therefore closely aligned with the Institute’s research and innovation activities and its interest in applying digital technologies to address challenges in energy efficiency and the built environment.
A central aspect of IMP’s contribution is ensuring that the different tools, services and data sources developed within the project can communicate and operate together. For IMP, this is particularly important because the transition towards smarter and more sustainable buildings requires more than individual technological solutions. Building information models, digital twins, sensors, energy monitoring systems, simulation tools and building management technologies need to exchange information effectively and function within a common digital ecosystem. POSIFIT provides a real-world framework in which IMP can contribute to addressing these interoperability and integration challenges.
EXPECTATIONS FROM POSIFIT:
Through its participation in POSIFIT, IMP aims to further develop and demonstrate methodologies for the integration and interoperability of digital building technologies and services. One of IMP’s main expectations is to contribute to a flexible digital architecture that allows different POSIFIT components to work together effectively. By leading the definition of the POSIFIT platform requirements, IMP contributes to establishing the data and information flows between different project activities and defining the requirements for integrating services within a common BIM-based environment. This work addresses connections with building energy assets, sensors, energy monitoring systems and smart-grid devices. IMP also expects POSIFIT to provide a valuable environment for advancing semantic and technical interoperability. By leading the work on communication protocols and the data model for the integration of POSIFIT services, IMP contributes to establishing a common framework connecting real-world building data, digital twins and the different services developed within the project. Beyond these technical developments, POSIFIT offers IMP the opportunity to validate integration approaches within a multidisciplinary European project and to exchange knowledge.
